The plain-language terms
Skylight is free, unofficial software. This page says what that means in practice rather than in legalese.
Use your own account
Sign in with your own Plano ISD Skyward (Qmlativ) login, and only your own. Using someone else's credentials — with or without Skylight — is a matter between you and the district, and Skylight neither enables nor excuses it. There is one Skylight account per student.
It is unofficial
Skylight is an independent project. It is not affiliated with, endorsed by, or supported by Skyward, Inc., Qmlativ, or Plano ISD. Skyward and Qmlativ are the trademarks of their respective owners and are used here only to describe what Skylight connects to. Your use of Skyward itself remains governed by the district's rules, not by this page.
Nothing here is an official record
Grades, GPA and class rank shown in Skylight are calculated estimates produced from configured rules and from data read out of Skyward. They are not transcripts, not official rank, and not a substitute for what the district publishes. Check Skyward, or ask your counsellor, for anything that counts.
Provided as is
Skylight is provided without warranty of any kind. It reads Skyward's own website, so a change there can break it without notice. It can be unavailable, it can be wrong, and it can stop existing. Do not make a decision you cannot undo on the strength of a number it showed you.
Your data is yours to remove
What Skylight stores depends entirely on the storage level you pick, and the privacy page describes each one. Settings has a Delete-everything button that hard-deletes every row Skylight holds about you, with no soft delete and no recovery. Guest mode stores nothing on the server in the first place.
Fair use of the service
Skylight rate-limits sign-in, sign-up, account changes and syncing. Please do not try to work around those limits, script the service, or use it to test credentials that are not yours — those limits exist to keep Skylight from becoming a password-guessing proxy pointed at the school. Access may be refused to anyone doing that.
Licence
Skylight is open-source software licensed GPL-3.0-or-later. The licence covers the source code; it is what lets you check these claims rather than trust them, and it carries its own disclaimer of warranty.
Changes
These terms can change as the project does. Anything that would store more of your data than before stays opt-in, and the storage levels are always described in plain language in Settings before you choose one.
